This program is designed to provide young people living with disability with a safe, inclusive and supportive environment to enjoy football. Sessions will focus on the development of gross motor skills, as well as social and cognitive development, while participants learn and engage in football-based activities. Where When BSRV Aquafit
The Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic facilities team are currently designing an Aquafit water based program for people who are blind or vision impared in partnership with Blind Sport and Recreation Victoria. If you would like to express your interest in this program or be involved in the design please submit an EOI though this website or contact Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre today.
Hawthorn Aquatic & Leisure Centre To be confirmed BSRV Spin class Spin classes offer the opportunity to participate in organised indoor cycling and involve using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a class setting. You will take part in interval training and higher intensity (race days), as well as recovery. Classes help build endurance and strength. Classes are suitable for people aged over 18.
Hawthorn Aquatic & Leisure Centre
Wednesdays at 11:00am BSRV Boxing This activity for visually impaired people includes practising combinations along with core strengthening exercises. Classes are completed in a high intensity setting and are suitable for people over the age of 18. Hawthorn Aquatic & Leisure Centre Tuesdays at 5:00pm View the Hawthorn group fitness timetable BSRV Gym class Designed for vision impaired people, this gym class improves your strength and increases your heart rate through cardio-based exercises. The class is supervised by qualified professionals.

Dance for Neurobalance Designed for people with neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s and Huntington’s, this class involves chair-based movements that focus on coordination and functional movements. You’ll learn a dance while thinking about your movements and moving in time with the music.

Goalball

Based in Boroondara, the Victorian Goalball Association partners with the Hub to deliver Come and Try days. Goalball is a sport designed for and played by blind and vision impaired people. We have a range of accessible equipment in our gym facilities such as recumbent bikes and aqua ergometers. Modifications can also be made to programming to assist you. Each of the Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities provide accessible entry for lap swimming and recreational swimming. The following are available at the following facilities:
- Ashburton Pool & Recreation Centre – Pool Hoist to assist with access into warm water pool and indoor 25m pool;
- Boroondara Sports Complex – pool hoist to assist with access into the 50m outdoor pool;
- Hawthorn Aquatic & Leisure Centre – pool hoist/ramps access into the warm water pool and ramp to access 50m pool.

WheelTalk is an interactive program that encourages people to think about diversity, acceptance and disability – with a primary focus on inclusion.
Presented by Victorians with disability who are actively involved in sport and recreation, WheelTalk combines unique stories of lived disability with the opportunity to play up to an hour of Wheelchair AFL, Wheelchair Basketball, or Wheelchair Rugby.
